Suzie Foote BSN, RN | LIFT Co-Founder
Ms. Foote received her BSN nursing degree from Emory University. She has extensive experience in critical care and medical surgical nursing. Throughout her career she has been a patient advocate, educator, legislative advocate and administrator. Her current expertise is in the holistic health and wellness arena, SuzieRN.com. She offered years of publicly available classes and events to encourage well-being in Mississippi, EatMoveRelax.com. She is active in numerous Functional and Integrative Medicine online communities and social media. She brings her visionary passion for education of individual and community wellness aspects of LIFT.
David J. Dzielak Ph.D. | LIFT Co-Founder
An integrative cardiovascular physiologist by training, Dr. Dzielak was an active bench science researcher and medical educator for nearly 15 years. In 1998 he was appointed to organize and promote the research mission of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. In his various administrative positions, he developed a faculty incentive program and oversaw a quadrupling of the federally funded research budget at the medical center. He also led the institutions Washington DC federal advocacy efforts which was responsible for securing $74 million in directed appropriations to build a Cancer Institute and two research buildings.
Dr. Dzielak served as Executive Director of the Mississippi Division of Medicaid from 2012 until 2018. He implemented many changes in the organization and oversaw the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the most significant healthcare legislation in decades. He brings and extensive knowledge of healthcare, education and administration to LIFT.
Suzanne Sharpe JD. | LIFT Treasurer
Ms. Sharpe received her JD from University of Mississippi. She has worked in both the government and private sectors throughout her career.
She has worked extensively in the following capacities: Workers’ Compensation Administrative Law Judges; in the Audit and Ethics Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s office; as Chief of Staff to Mississippi Commissioners of Higher Education; as Acting Commissioner of Higher Education; as liaison for the IHL Board Office to Mississippi Congressional delegations in Washington; and in the Ayers litigation settlement negotiations. Also the Mississippi MPACT Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program and a Hearing Officer for the Mississippi Division of Medicaid. She has extensive knowledge of both state and federal law and brings this knowledge of contracts and services to LIFT.
